Since we're educators, I think this is appropriate to post here. Here is
my comment:
Unbearable, these tributes from the weeping bourgeoisie on death of John L
Lewis. SNCC never forgave him for censuring his own speech at the 63 March
on Washington, at request of CIA-financed Bayard Rustin and ML King, which
called Lewis's original speech too radical, and some labeled it
"communist". He called for a march through the South "like Sherman," and
for no support to Democrats or Republicans, and that SNCC wouldn't wait for
the courts or the president to act, a revolution was needed." Later of
course, John Lewis was in the wing of the civil rights movement that was
co-opted into the Democrats, where he remained for the rest of his life.
