If only the Garda hadn't removed driving convictions from its criminal
records bureau surreptitiously...If only the whistleblower had been
believed, instead of character assassinated...We wouldn't be in a
situation close to perilous over Brexit, the weakness of the Irish
Government, and the Border Question between Ireland, the UK and Europe.
It just gets more and more complicated, with the UK Conservative
government having to "buy off" the Northern Ireland Unionist party with
a billion pounds to get its support for the UK Conservative government
at Westminster. The Northern Ireland government is suspended at the
moment because the parties involved cannot agree a way forward.
The Border between Northern Ireland and Eire is the thorn in the flesh
of the Brexit negotiations. No one wants a border, but if the UK is to
leave the EU and the customs and trading agreements, then there is
little alternative.
