Let's start with George Washington...he never told a lie...:-).

What is interesting to me, though, is the confusion that is now taking over in the western world, from Brexit to Trump. It is the first time I have seen the traditional values, morality and social mores getting mixed up. For a long time, I have never been able to swallow that there are political parties, people or organisations who are left wing, or right wing, or middle of the road, or fascists, communists, conservatives, socialists, labourites, trotskyists, greens, liberals, libertarians, social democrats, and all the other grapes which one gets on a vine. The political parties once used to go for the middle ground as a way of winning the elections, and used those traditional values as a measure of where to cast their policies. This doesn't work any more.

Margaret Thatcher, and her Conservative Party, in the 80's, was one of the first in the UK to use computer programmes and algorithms, to discover not only the marginal seats in the UK, but why they were marginal and where to put in the money to win over the electorate, very sophisticated and efficient targetting, less money wasted. The election pollsters had great accuracy for a while, and they too developed their algorithms, to predict the outcomes of elections with more accuracy. They too have gone all to pot. The traditional political parties in the UK are lost in the forest, losing support all over the place. It is not only the liberals, and the labour party but the conservatives too, people no longer believe in them, the tradition of following how ones parents voted is disappearing. The nations of the United Kingdom are cracking up too.

Our politicians once used to say how corrupt the political regimes were in India and Africa and in the third world, with backhanders and baksheesh and so on. Russia is corrupt, China is corrupt, they are all warmongers..., whilst we are the good guys, and so on. Until our politicians got caught out putting their hands in the till...now people just laugh in contempt at them, when they come out with their altruistic nonsense about serving the people. Fantastic stories about the people abusing their NHS abound, not the cuts in hospital beds, or cut backs in services, whilst their political leaders were quite prepared to go to war in Syria.

Personally, I think that is why most people where I live, in a very conservative area of the country, voted for Brexit, not so much because of immigration, but because of the bovine scatology that they were expected to swallow from the experts, whose views somehow became blinkered when it came to being a Bremainder or a Brexiteer, some predicting dire economic consequences, others saying it wouldn't make any difference, or it would make the economy into something wonderful. Whole families became split on the question, including mine, with people taking up positions without really having a clue whether one position or another benefited them or not.

I wrote a letter to Tony Blair's creation of an institution for promoting globalism throughout the world. I asked him how he felt globalism would improve the world for me. And, after taking 3 weeks to reply, one of his paid minions replied that globalism was good for everyone, he believed, which is why he was promoting it. That was all he had to say. He hasn't changed much, his belief in weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, got him into a lot of trouble...he hasn't learned his lessons it seems. Personally, I am not opposed to increased international co-operation, and I am definitely for a single world market which would promote trade, in which every nation could participate on an equal opportunities basis. What I don't like is the formation of a global elite, which services itself at the expense of every one else in the world, pays little or no tax, and which puts tariffs on poorer countries and excludes them from participating in world prosperity, and has no care for the environment, or peoples rights to earn a living and live in peace...but there you are...that's extremism for you, and I have been so wrong in the past...I am glad I am not a politician. I gave up on the answers a long time ago, now I am just a participating observer...
