[cryptome] Re: Getting access to Cryptome Website

Hello,

Same behavior here. I alerted my internet service provider, they (just)
opened a ticket.

I identified that using cogent peering could be the source of the problem.
But that need an expert on ISP peering services to be 100% positive.

Still that behavior remains strange. Is it censorship nowadays ?

Hi Tomek,

Let's try and narrow it down.  If it doesn't work on your other browser,
and you have transferred over any data from the browser that isn't
working.  It doesn't sound like it has anything to do with your computer.
You could try another computer if you have one, or your smart phone if you
have one and see if you can reach it from there...

As I have said, I am not a techy, so I don't know anything about
traceroutes and such like, though I did have a look at it, perhaps one of
our more technically cogniscant colleages can advise...:-).

HI Tomek,
Tx for your information.  Anyone else getting a problem accessing url:
https://cryptome.org/
I don't know if it is a problem with the website, or a problem with your
computer or with your ISP or whether you are behind some government
firewall at the moment.  So let us see if anyone else is having a problem.

Hello, this is my first post to this list, I am not familliar with mailing

long time reader of Site and this list and I also would like to report
issue with accessing site. Just like Haim Barak I also get 403: Forbidden
when trying to access cryptomedotorg. Site is inaccessible for me for at
least a week, constantly the same error. Trying to append /index.html to
address does not help, neither does flushing cache, cookies, using
different browser or geographically distant host. Few days ago pinging site
worked flawlessly well, now even that fails. Nmap scan report ports 80 and
443 open, as expected since something has to emit 403. I also did
traceroutes from two hosts, not sure if that's appropriate but here is link
to them: https://pastebin.com/kZPaVz4Q . Is that some extended site
maintenance? Does site works for you?
Have a nice day

No problem...I like problem solving...:-).

The next question I am going to ask, is are you getting this error with
any other site you visit, or is it just with the url:
https://cryptome.org/

In the meantime...I have found a website which offers some
solutions...whether they will work, I don't know.  If you don't understand
any of it, join the club, but you could try going into your browser and
selecting <options> and clear out your cache or cookies for the cryptome
website... Do you know how to do that?  If not, let me know what browser
you are using.

Another option is to download another browser and try that...
Let me know how you get on?

*Troubleshooting suggestions:*

Ensure that you have a valid home page defined in your website directory
(example: /htdocs/index.html, /htdocs/index.php). On Unix, this is case
sensitive and must be all lower case.

Hi Haim,

Well, at least you can get to one of them...:-).  However, if you want
access to the Cryptome Archives, or recent topic additions, then you will
have to go to the Cryptome page itself.  Just remind me...I think you said
that when you put in url: https://cryptome.org/

into your browser and clicked on it, you got an error message...is that
right?  Can you tell me what it was?
