Dear Colleagues,

see url: http://cryptome.org/2014/12/gchq-surv-ipt-judgment.pdf
And have a really fun day...or is is Sun Day, certainly not enlightenment day... :-)

I take it all back wot I said about American English. I have just spent half the night reading all 77 pages of the above report, and hardly understood a word of it. What I can assure you of though, is that your information is completely safe with the leaders and establishment in our respective societies. In a closely argued legal review, covering all aspects of the problem, with the main thrust being on the protection of the private data of the public and national security and the prevention of serious crime, the judge has completely won me over, and that all those concerns and fears that I had regarding uncontrolled collection, storage and dispersal of information about me and other citizens and non citizens throughout the world is pure paranoia, put out by a bunch of freaks, militants and foreign governments, gray and black propoganda. And that I should trust our government and its agents, implicitly, explicitly, overtly and covertly, both above and below the waterline. (The UK is a maritime nation, and it shows in its langauge, none of your underground stuff here).

Prism, Tempora, Upstream are programs which you needn't worry about, as the NSA and US government gaurantee the civil rights, the human rights of their citizens, through carefully worded laws and procedures, and the sorted, sifted and protected information is only shared on a strictly controlled basis between the UKASA countries under the agreement. The oversight and close scrutiny of the operation of those programs is second to none... and assures the protection of citizens rights here and in the USA. The size of the haystack of data is carefully limited, and there is only enough hay collected, or intercepted (is there a difference), and stored to discover the needle (s), and here in the UK a variety of government, organisations, independent investigators and overseers, known for their dispassionate integrity and protection of human rights are appointed over the administration and running of the Security Service, the Intelligence Service and GCHQ. Those scrutineers have discovered nothing which is untoward, apart from one small hypothetical problem, regarding abuse of storage, which is so minor that I won't go into it now. Two types of warrant under RIPA and other legislation, statutes, orders in council, statutory orders, codes of practice, ensure that the monitoring and surveillance of British citizens is strictly limited...So...there...!!! Now isn't that just amazing. John should change the purpose of Cryptome and encourage hobbies like Ballroom Dancing instead... :-).
ATB
Dougie.

That, dear colleagues...is what one is up against...and it is all true, true, true... :-).
