One happy day, hopefully sometime soon, the powers that be will get the
massage and realise that the present situation regarding hacking and
compromising of computers and software is capable of destroying the
digital infrastructure and personal communications systems in our nation
states and our sophisticated world and we will get a situation where
consumers have the same rights in law to sue software and hardware
manufacturers as they do regarding any other household equipment, when
it is not fit for purpose and not doing the job properly.
With the growth of smart technology, the security and vulnerabilities
situation is going to get much worse otherwise, in everything from smart
electricity meters, to controlling ones fridge, freezer, central
heating, burglar alarms and even ones motor car...and of course, those
wonderful little household robots which instead of doing all the tedious
and time wasting jobs, like house cleaning, laundry and cutting the
lawn, will, instead run amok and turn our lives into chaos... And think
of all those childrens smart toys too.
A lot of people use D-Link routers, and haven't a clue just how
vulnerable they and their families are to hackers and such like.
