libreboot a lenovo x200 and throw trisquel on it!

made a few of these for people recently, and it seems to be the
current sweet spot. Qubes on coreboot is good, but continually
technically challenging for the uninitiated - many don't need this
kind of isolation between app domains. [ flashing your own bios is fun
and cool. don't be intimidated! :]

if you're into customization and building to your needs rather than
general kitchen sinkery, slackware is sans systemd, and with kernel,
libs, userspace tuned tight is as good as it gets in reasonable

of course, if you want out of the box easy, you could just get a librem laptop:

good luck!
