What would we do without agents of a foreign power ? :-)
Whatever happened to the movement towards transparency and freedom of
information in the US? Taking away the right of citizens to discover
which organisations are being backed financially by whom, makes it even
more difficult to find out if the data or information or reports those
organisations which say that they are independent, from universities to
NGO's produce are biased or in favour of one group of interests or
another. Lobbyists are but one example. The darkness of secret
financing is what leads to more interference in the private affairs of
the citizen as well as interference in the affairs of other nations, and
affects their well being, usually for the benefit of a small minority.
No one wishes to prevent freedom of speech and wise counselling and
advice between peoples and nations, particularly when it is for the
common good and advancement of peaceful development, but when it comes
to the underhand methods, which undermine and subvert the goodwill
between citizens of nation states, their political and diplomatic
representatives abroad, then that is a different matter.
One wishes that the US ruling elites were talking more about getting
on with the rest of us in the world, rather than the paranoid ravings of
a bunch of lunatics, who give themselves names of right and left who are
looking more for indulging their fantasies, apportioning blame for their
own ills, and deciding who or who is not their biggest enemy. The
hatred towards Russia I find amazing in this day and age, but, after the
latest Presidential election, the whole thing started off with North
Korea, then it moved to China and now its about Russia. One gets the
impression, that if it weren't for those countries getting in their way
and putting a stop to the United States ruling class fantasies of world
domination under the banner of some kind of US western democratic state,
then all the peoples of the United States would be happy and cheerful
and have wonderfully prosperous livings.
The rest of the world, it would or wouldn't surprise me...:-), are
watching the goings on and cavorting about amongst the Big Yins of
America with everything from amazement to disbelief. It reminds me so
much of that saying about stabbing one in the back whilst offering words
of welcome to one's face...
Still, it has taken Donald Trump to bring it all out into the open...so,
whatever else one says about him, at least he has released those pent up
frustrations from which America appears to be suffering at the moment.
Let us hope that some good comes out of it. The US government has for
as far back as I can remember , not only interfered in other countries
elections, not for the good of the country, but for the good of the US
ruling elites, and even worse; and it has organised coup d'etats too,
putting regimes into place which have no concept of promoting their own
society's human rights and free citizenship, far less those of others.
And those same very dark forces, have brought to a halt, any good
intentions which the US state might have had towards their foreign
relations. Making them darker and more undiscoverable, can only lead to
more instability and chaos, in my view.
The true face of Imperialist Democracy...back to the Ancient Roman
Empire...:-) Thank goodness, they don't last for ever, and in trying to
achieve immortality, they usually end up toppling themselves more
quickly. The question is, how to prevent them taking the rest of the
world with them. It always comes back to the question of survival.
Such is the way of the world.
Just a few thoughts...:-)
