Nioh to me was just a sub-par souls game with improved and more technical
combat.
Personally I found it lacking in every other aspect.
Its a souls game in the sense that the gameplay loop functions the same.
Its hard.
amrita = souls.
You drop your souls when you die. Need to get back to your corpse to retrieve
it or its lost forever.
Die or using a shrine(bonfire) respawns everything.
The inventory and loot manage can fuck right off. Would be less frustrating if
the UI wasnt god awfull.
Sadly the PC version hasnt improved/changed anything regarding that.
Managing diablo quantities of loot and crafting materials with souls like
interface drove to the point where the game was too annoying to play. Will get
back to it at some point.
If you only care about combat then its superb.
Sounds like I am really bitching but I still liked the game overal...

It's not a Souls game, although I can see why people make that comparison. The
combat, for one, is a lot more fast-paced. Not knocking the Souls combat (as I
like it) but Nioh just seems to have a lot more options. You can switch between
three stances and all of them have practical applications for different combat
situations. The stances have an effect on your attacks as well, which is cool.
In addition, I like the blink (I think I'm remembering correctly) system for
replenishing stamina. You can decide to do a full combo and replenish your
stamina immediately after the series, or take more of a hit-and-run approach
using single strikes and movement to gain the upper hand. It's important to get
the whole blink thing down because you use stamina for almost everything
(offense, evasion and guarding). I'm a fan.

I showed him random polony. Just so he could see what the characters are
capable of. Admittedly, I'm a shit Hein player, but I've made Whip formidable
now.
He will learn himself.
He needs to use A+B and C+D more. He stays in the air alot to avoid combos.
He's a franchise noob for sure, but he is using the matches to gain intel.
