Yeah those games are legit. I need to put them on the PolonyBox.

Not sure if I'd classify them as hidden gems, but Nuclear Throne and
Enter The Gungeon are fun time killers. Nuclear Throne is basically 2D
Doom. The story doesn't really matter; all that's required is to select
your character, collect a few weapons and kill everything in sight. It's
frenetic, mindless fun and it's very addictive.
Enter The Gungeon is essentially Nuclear Throne lite. The pace isn't
as fast and it's mainly a dungeon crawler, but the gameplay and gun
collection keep things interesting. It's worth playing just for the
interesting (not to mention, wacky) variety of weapons you're able to
collect during each playthrough.
I also picked up Assault Suit Leynos (remake of a Genesis classic)
because I'm a sucker for 2D mecha games in the vein of Cybernator and
Metal
Warriors.

Anyone play any "hidden" gems this year?
This one is mine (Rabi Ribi):

One of the highest reviewed games on steam. Once you get past the
terrible furry weeb aesthetic the game is actually great. Great music as
well. Metroidvania x Dodonpachi. You can unlock combos, walljumps,
slides, drills, wall-kicks (like SOTN) and the bosses basically have
bullet-hell attacks.
Very much skillbased as well. Balance is achieved by levelling up
the bosses/enemies as you level (like Skyrim), so there's no real point
in
grinding
I beat this boss when I was twice as levelled as this player, but in
my game the boss was at level 60. The difficulty is the same. It took
me
about 30-40 tries I think. And that's just because I suck.
