There's only one thing I more annoying in a discussion than "correlation != causation", and that's someone quoting Newton's laws of Thermodynamics. You'll find this often in the academic field because people are steadfast in their beliefs. So when someone says "Hey, I figured out a way to get energy out of nothing!", the entire scientific community will shun them. You see, you're not allowed to say "free" energy. You're supposed to say "energy from a source that we can't detect directly". But even then they'll still point and laugh at you, till you say that stuff like Dark Matter/Energy has the same properties, and then maybe one or two will listen to you.
