I’ll see. Problem is now that I’m at work and I’ll only be able to check this
stuff when I get back to the hotel. Also the net connection there is spotty at
best, so if things go wrong, no easy way to replace programmes or fix things.

Is System Restore enabled? You may want to give that a shot.

Okay, question here to the people who know more about IT than I do.
So yesterday I was playing some games, everything is fine on my laptop. I take
a break to watch some stuff. I click the desktop link that I’ve got for MPC,
but nothing happens. I check the link and it’s broken – not mapping to
anything. I forgot where I left the MPC folder, so I use the old ‘find’
function and nothing comes up. I reckon I probably left the zip in my downloads
folder, so I go there to check for it. Problem is that the downloads folder is
gone. User>Admin>Documents is just gone, as though it was never there. I know
that I checked it earlier in the day because I’d pulled a song and it was
sitting there.
I run full virus scan – nothing. Run full scandisk – nothing.

So… should I expect a hard drive failure at some point? The laptop is about 4
years old or so.
