Yes.

That's why the 1st thing I did when I loaded the game was unbind the turn
buttons.

I don't think I have "turned" with the keyboard in games since playing the
Original Doom or Duke Nukem 3d. (Racing games excluded)

Outside of battle, like when you’re running around or riding your chocobo, do
you use the mouse to shift direction?
Weird...

The mouse is for the weak. I just need to get faster at turning with keys.
Mouse is fine for zooming, random clicking and stuff. It’s not for real battles.

Yeah, got to say I’ve learned a lot about what a dps character should do. I
really need to fix my movement since it’s not supposed
to be the healer’s job to look after me if I can’t be bothered to get out of
the way of an aoe attack.
I’m a lot better now than I was, but I’m hardly a great example of a dps player.

Damage over time.

I cast miasma, bio, bio2. They all deal damage over time. Then I cast fest
which adds 100 damage per tick, per status. Then I have my pet doing damage.
Then I do more damage
per hit than you do. Good luck out dps’ing me.

I deal more damage as a scholar than that.

Melee dps / ranged dps > Healer dps > summon dps > tank dps.

The question on the ranged versus melee has to take a lot into consideration –
dots, cast time, running around etc., so you can argue between ranged and melee
dps. I think
it’s probably between bard and dragoon for highest consistent damage, but
that’s my opinion.

Claiming that a tank can do damage is a joke. Not sure if you do more damage
than chocobo summon.

There is another way to use the secret characters.

I'm surprised that no-one has thought of it. I used the trick when I had a PS2
action Replay cart.

The characters are referenced by numbers in order top left to bottom right.
You can give the action replay a designation to search for, like say...
character use,
buy running a a check on the character numbers when you select them.

Then you would use:

0 as Lui Kang

1 as Kung Lao

2 as Johnny... and so on.

The action replay would search changes in the code and would then return with a
code for your specific character.

usually it would be XXXXXXXX00 for Lui Kang (where the X is a hex designation
from 0 to F)

then XXXXXXXX01 for Kung Lao... and so on.

So hey, you put in XXXXXXXX0A (0A would be "10") for Scorp and XXXXXXXX0B (0B
would be "11") for Raiden and then you're done with the normal cast.

Put in more, and you find the others. Easy peasy.

It's how I managed to play with Noob in MK3 (who was a palette swap of Kano.
lol) as well as the bosses.

On UMK3 the codes didn't even change... but XXXXXXXX14 gave an interesting
result. Chameleon.

Aaahhh... then you could still make Tsung morph into anybody as well.
any-morph into Motaro was always fun.
