This would work better as a series, to be honest. I'd much rather see them
attempt to honour the original material by including as much of it as possible,
as opposed to a movie where they just include shit they think is relevant.
Then again, most of King's books have resulted in sub-par movies, so this
really comes as no surprise. For example, the movie version of 'Christine' has
nothing on the novel and the 'IT' miniseries is even worse (l'm still hoping
for an R-rated, mostly accurate movie or series). My all-time fave movie
rendition is probably Misery, even though it also deviates from the novel
somewhat.

Yeah, there are quite a few references to him being tall and thin. The blue eye
thing serves a purpose as well with the shifting of Eddie’s eyes just enough to
disconcert people.
I suppose they can just change the interactions to be about something like
woman’s rights, rather than race, but that will dilute a lot of the Susannah
stuff. Her (Detta’s) major distrust of Eddie and Roland comes from them being
white and part of the establishment.
I also wonder how much of the story they’ll put in. I suppose, with a lot of
character development straight out cut, they could probably fit this into 3 or
4 films. Cut all of Wizard and Glass – just leave minor flashbacks. I dunno.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. IMO, Roland should resemble Geralt from
'The Witcher' series. Both characters share a number of commonalities if viewed
from a characterisation perspective. In fact, the first thing l thought of when
l first saw Geralt was "This is what Roland would look like".
The way in which King introduces and describes Roland implies that his physical
appearance is that of a tall, thin (and, according to Eddie, ugly and
spooky-looking, although l speak under correction concerning the latter as l
can't really recall off-hand...l remember something along those lines)
middle-aged caucasian male with piercing blue eyes.
I'm also concerned about Susannah's interaction with Roland as her alter-ego,
Detta, frequently uses racial slurs when conversing with him. Perhaps they are
looking to avoid that altogether by casting Alba? If so, the effectiveness of
Susannah's duality will be reduced considerably.
I hate that people feel the need to deviate from the source material purely for
the purposes of individualistic creative expression. Peter Jackson is notorious
for doing this.

Interest choice with Idris Elba. I think he fits Roland perfectly, but I wonder
what they’re going to do about the racial tension thing with Susannah’s
character later on?
