Similar issue with olive oil. Pure olive oil isn't sold outside of Greece,
regardless of what the bottle says or where it says it came from.

Speaking of, here's a great article on Kobe and Wagyu beef:

Same can be said of "champagne".

I just realized the same idea behind garbage collection also applies to the
cows. The only difference is that time scales are vastly different for
computer processes and "real world" things.

For example:
There are 2 cows on a field, 1 has been laying down for 3 minutes, 1 for an
entire week. Which one is likely to stand up first? Cow number 1 is almost
certainly the correct answer.

The cow guys were interviewed about this and they were surprised at the Ig.
They said that their research actually has loads of applications - mainly to do
with the health of cows and the amount of time between naps being one of the
indicators of potential problems. They said that they were happy to get any
publicity. Also they thought initially that the longer the cow had been lying
down, the longer it would stand up afterwards and were surprised that the data
didn't reflect that.

I don't think they had the Garbage collection idea in mind though.

First, that the longer a cow has been lying down, the more likely that cow will
soon stand up;

This is actually quite an interesting result. Interesting enough (to me at
least) that it warrants further investigation, because in computing the
opposite result is expected. In computing, there is a technique used in many
modern programming languages called "Garbage collection". The idea is that you
use whatever you want, and a process will automatically clean up for you at
some indeterministic point. The thing is, some garbage collectors work on the
principle that the longer an object is in use (ie. doesn't need to be cleaned
up), the longer it will remain in that state, so it will give them less
priority. In other words, unless they have a predetermined goal/destinations,
an object who has been in state "A" for a long time will remain in that state
longer than an object who has just entered it.
I suppose with living things they do eventually eat and move around, but given
certain parameters the basic principle should theoretically remain the same.

I don't think you can get into trouble if what you report is the truth. Those
clauses exist in their contracts. They're posted up on the MSSA site.
They can get into trouble for calling MSSA dodgy or making specific comments
about Colin unless they have hard proof of it, not just comments from 'reliable
sources'.

Then again, that's how it is supposed to work in a free country. I have no idea
what's happening in South Africa and our freedom of information act.

I mean, is it really slander if there is evidence that MSSA is full of shit?
