Yeah but you have to go with our current understanding of physics. That's
different from technology. Like it's easy to say we can build a thinking
robot. There's nothing in physics that will stop us. But can we build
something that can go faster than the speed of light? Physics says no.
Maaaaaybe we can find a way to reach those areas if we can find a practical
way of bending space, which at this point is still a dream.

It's all possible.
So the Universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. The light from the
outer reaches is taking longer and longer to reach us. This is important
because there will come a time where it will be impossible for the light to
ever reach us, which implies we (or whoever is still left behind) can never
detect the existence of these things given our current knowledge of
physics. Which means we will think we are the only civilization in the
universe.
Now the question is... what if this already happened?

Basically what physics says that reality is not deterministic. Things
happen on a probabilistic scale. So improbably things can occur. But the
interesting thing is that all the possible ways something can happen
exists
at the same time (it's called a Superposition of states). Like
Schroedinger's cat who is dead and alive at the same time. So the theory
is that if many realities exist, there is at least one reality where you
will live forever. Which is kind of like reloading a quick save just
after
you die.
