E-sports took ages to pick up in other countries. I don’t see it going anywhere
in SA for a while. There is a definite improvement over the last few years –
consider the MK stuff with Ster Kin, or the fact that we’ve actually got a
Hearthstone prelim in CT (the only one in Africa).
I presume there have been improvements on the Dota/LoL/randomshit and FPS
fronts as well. I just don’t track those.
MSSA still doesn’t approach these things properly. Similarly the gaming
community doesn’t get involved with MSSA. The press seem confused a lot of the
time because they’re not used to reporting these things and just assume that
MSSA knows what’s going on because they’re official.
Anyways, I guess things will just keep getting better. Not at much of a pace
though.

It requires a fair amount of investment to be decent at any KOF game (speaking
from personal experience), but it's a fun process.
The biggest challenge to overcome initially is understanding how the jumps
work. Everything else - from confirms to combos to supers - is easy enough to
learn. Just find characters that suit your playstyle and start the grind *lol*
Learning how to play the game correctly won't take all that long. Beating
people with 10+ years worth of experience will though :D More people should
play KOF IMO. I LOVE 2k2UM.
