Great game. I started replaying it again (never finished it). I'm at the
first village after the waterfall boss.

It's everywhere and it's one of the reasons I steer away from the
so-called AAA titles.

And on the other side of the coin there's this new genre called
"frustration games" where the difficulty is ramped up to the point where it
only appeals to people with OCD, or maybe you can enjoy it for a few hours
because of the novelty. It's like people forgot how to make good games. I
still load up Mame once in a while and the arcade games I used to enjoy
still feel as fresh as ever.

I wonder about something. I tend to drift mainly towards action based
games. I play fighting games and I can see the changes that have been
happening over the past few years. I was not a major 2d fighting game
player, but I understand the systems and meta enough to understand how
that’s changing.

On the other side, I stuff around with jrpgs and things like Skyrim. Then
the Diablo and HS side.

Now I can definitely see how these things are now catering more for the
causal side. FF13 was a fun game, but there was only 1 fight in the entire
game that required any strategy (farming the adamantoises without summons).
Diablo does cater a bit for the real players – with the leaderboards and
such, but they also waste the majority of their time fixing items for the
casuals. You can now completely alter your build at the click of a button.
While that’s fine, Diablo 2 was a whole lot stricter. If you’ve incorrectly
assigned stats points, well too bad. Start a new character. You died? Well
lose a massive amount of XP.

I just wonder how it’s going on the RTS side. I’ve never really played
Starcraft at the competitive level. I mean, I understand the basics and
know some openings (cannon rush ftw), but don’t play it seriously and have
ignored the game since the last patch.

Anyways, I wonder if the dumbing down is just more on the games that I
play, or if it has infected other genres as well – especially on the
strategy game side.

the statement of gg looking better than kof because it's an opinion and not
fact.

Persona/Jojo's ASB on my PS3 consoles and One Piece Pirate Warriors on the
