If it looks like something I'd enjoy, I generally end up getting it.
Speaking of which, if you're the type who loves old-school CRPGs,
turn-based strategic combat, weird but compelling narratives and
exploration, you will LOVE Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Seems like nostalgia goggles...  there are tons of horseshit old
games...  just like there are tons new horseshit games.

Things about memory is people tend to not remember the loads of trash of
years past and only remember the good ones.

The industry has grown immensely in size so yea, there are more bad
games, but I think there is more good games per year as well compared to
the past.

But once again this could be highly personal depend on what kind of games
a person is into.

How many games have you actually played or would have been interested in
that was ruined by Micro transactions or bad DLC practices?

Its probably an extremely low amount.

My personal spoiled game count 1 (Star Wars Battlefront)

Meanwhile the Indie game scene exploded with hordes of original titles.

With multiple amazing new games per year in such varied number of genres.

I personally think we are currently the closest to what could be
considered a gaming golden age.

Micro transactions, dlc, loot boxes, season passes it goes on and on.
I agree about the 2 games you mentioned, they are godlike but it's just 2
maybe if you are lucky that number can reach 10 but that is out of 50 plus
games released this year on ps4 alone.
And that is not good since the gaming industry is now focusing on Mass
producing games rather than focusing on quality.
The gaming media is also not helping with their partnerships with the
gaming publishers and awarding positive reviews of these games and focusing
on esports rather than the gaming experience we all know and love.

Nah man.  Its not that bad.

Its the same as any form of news and the media only focuses on the bad
news.

There are amazing games releasing every year.

This year alone has given me 2 of the best games I have ever played in
my life.

Yakuza 0

Nier: Automata

I guess it still depends on taste but majority of games being released
are not Microtransaction ridden monstrosities.

Hopefully it steers away them in the same way the "online pass" trend
kicked the bucket.

I will just fire up my ps2 and clear it's back log.
This generation of gaming has gone down the drain, there is simply
little to nothing to look forward to release wise.
Someone on the internet said the industry needs a crash and I fully
agree with that.

That shit that Activision/Blizzard patented is scary lol.

GG

Augmenting micro transactions through screwing with online matchmaking.

You get deliberately paired up with or against people who have
purchased items/weapons etc. that are also better than you skill wise.

Making you feel under powered and also wanting those items/weapons.

Then after you actually purchased these items yourself they pair you up
against lower skilled players on purpose to make you feel good and
positively reinforce your purchase.  (And making them want the items as
well)

Scummy as all hell lol
