Yeah, it's more the "film making as an art" bit that he was emphasising,
which I can certainly agree with. But yeah, RT definitely has it's uses.
Laymen stand to benefit a lot more from RT scores than modern-day Roger
Eberts.

Personally, I watch what I feel like watching, regardless of how it's
received by RT or respected film critics. I would have missed out on a lot
of good shit otherwise (good, as far as I'm concerned).

RT (and even IMDB reviews) saved me from viewing dozens of trash movies.
Yeah sure sometimes a few fall through the cracks, but you'll hear about
them from other people anyway.  And the duds that I do watch, well that's
just part of it.  At least it's only 1 or 2.  Not dozens.

Regarding his about about "film making as an art" vs film critics.yeah
that's a fair point.  But a bad with with good graphics is similar to a bad
movie with good cinematography IMO.

Okay, so you’re someone like Terry Crews, who could probably break me

I know this girl who is a part-time model.  She also does promotions
for a cigarette company at various events/clubs.  If you were with on the
night of Di's farewell you may have met her at Arcade (she was sitting on
the table closest to ours inside the place).  Anyway, one night while 
doing
promotions she met this extravagantly dressed American patron at some
club.  He said he worked for some famous people/company or whatever, and

someone.  She took his number but didn't really think much of it.  A week
or so later she gets a call from this guy's PA.  Her ticket has been 
booked
and her invite was in the mail.  Turns out the dude is legit and she finds
herself at some party in Hollywood.  She meets random people and this dude
walks over to talk to her but she kinda shrugs him off.  Apparently it was
Harvey Weinstein.  She was talking to some American girl at the time and
this conversation ensued:

"OMG OMG like... like... do you EVEN know who that guy IS?"
"Nope"

"HARVEY WEINSTEIN!"

"Who's that!?"

"WTF?  Are you evens exist?  Google him!"

"I can't google him now.  I don't have air time" <- This is how you
know it's a true story.  Capetonian girls never have airtime.

Anyway, she finds out who he is, gets formally introduced by the guy
who invited her and then he offers her a job!  And that's about where the
story gets strange...  Now at this point I didn't know about any of this
but she did send me a message from Paris or London, saying that she's
depressed because none of her friends bothered to check up on her after 
she
left the country.  So I inferred that she left the country for an extended
photoshoot or something, but then I ran into her on the night of Di's
farewell.  So I was "??? You texted me two nights ago from a different
city"  She didn't remember.  Was obviously sky high on coke at the time.
Anyway then she tells me the whole Weinstein/Miramax story.  And she shows
me his private number on her phone.  I'm thinking "Why do you even have 
his
private number!?"  But I don't say anything.  A few nights later she tells
me the rest of the story.  Turns out he flies her (and the other
"applicants") out to London every few weeks.  The first time she landed
immigration gave her issues.  She complained about this and apparently he
(Weinstein) told her "Don't say you're on business, say you're visiting
your boyfriend.  If they ask who, say it's me, and they can call to
verify).  Done.  She never has issues at immigration again.

Now this is where things get fucked up...

If you're on the FGC Whatsapp group you may or may not recall me
posting about my friend who had her nudes leaked on the net.  It was her.
Freaky texts and nudes.  And I mean really explicit stuff.  The person on
the side of the conversation was never identified, but it's clear he was a
foreigner.  He was basically saying "Look I have a wife, but I'll fly you
here and there.  So what are you willing to do?".  Shit got really
graphic.  She found out, her life was nearly destroyed.  She got lawyers 
on
it and the site was shutdown, but she's not yet sure who leaked the
images.  Miramax contacts her and says are deals are off - they don't need
the bad publicity.  After things died down they contacted her again and
asked if she's still interested.  She turned them down because they didn't
have her back during the time.  Or whatever.  I think she was just trying
to save face at that point (she denies the texts were real - I saw the
photos.  It was her for sure).

Anyway, what does all this mean?  Who knows.  But if even half of what
she says is true (flying to London, how she was offered the job), then 
it's
likely something similar happened to other people.  So the allegations of
sexual harassment don't really surprise me...
