Seems strangely quiet on the emails today. I got distracted playing HS last
night and only noticed at 3am. I’m too old to be doing this. My brain is dead
and I dunno what’s going on here.
I finally got around to watching Alien: Covenant. No spoilers ahead, but ignore
if you haven’t watched it yet.
….I dunno what genre they were going for. It wasn’t a horror – there was not
enough tension, no real scary stuff in any way – either psychological or even
jump scares. If this wasn’t supposed to be horror, but rather the general
sci-fi route, then I guess it was okay. If you want to ask philosophical
questions in a movie, don’t just have the characters open their mouths and ask
those questions. That’s bad writing or being phenomenally lazy. Or just stupid.
Not the only lazy writing in the movie, I guess.
Anyways, the film felt okay. It kept making me thing that it was going
somewhere, but never did. I think Ridley Scott’s time has passed. I liked
Fassbender in it. That’s pretty much all.
