I follow the Buffet way LB. I'm a value investor. If the price falls
because of external factors (like it did last week) I won't sell. If it
drops because of something inherent to the system, I will. Obviously
there's the case of the price increasing due to external factors too, like
speculation. And of course stuff like fear leading to lack of confidence
in the underlying product, but that's the same with many other investments.
But overall I'm still happy. I "lost" R1.5k yesterday, but I'm still up
R4K. So did I really lose anything, or am I just up R4k? Look at trends,
not the volatility.

The tech has already been adopted. Smart-contract based blockchain tech
is alive and in use (and I believe it will grow). The only consideration
is whether or not people continue to use ETH's blockchain, develop their
own, or use a different one.

This coin is not minable, but look at the amount of backers it has.
Including the Chinese government. So you don't have to mine this coin. If
you believe in the tech you buy some now and watch it grow. For me
personally the only benefit of mining vs buying directly is that I can sell
the hardware for a profit if I want to stop. Investing a big lump sum is
riskier.

At a sufficiently small scale, everything is volatile. Crypto moreso
than other areas because:
a) It's new
b) It's based on technology which advances exponentially compared to
other areas.
So you don't look at the volatility. You look at the *trend. *And for
the most part, the trend is positive.
Yes, ETH crashed to 10c last week... *for a few seconds on one exchange.*
It's still up over 2000%. If you're looking at short-term gains then
you're not investing - you're gambling.
And for the last time, you're supposed to invest *in the underlying
asset. *With technologies like Ethereum you are actually investing in
the concept of the Smart-Contract based blockchain. And the more people
who adopt the idea (meaning corporates and hopefully even governments, the
less likely the tech is to fail).
