Yeah, it definitely reflects most of the regular guys' feelings about the
event accurately, but for the the non-regular guys and casuals it might
have been awesome. (Though I'm sure everybody had a problem with having
stand all day )

Pros
-the venue was easy to find
-enough parking
-officials were easily identifiable
-there was a platform to ask questions (even though some weren't answered
properly)
-good amount of setups that allowed them to get through many games at ones
(for better or worse, since swiss rules require so many games to be played,
but having all the games happening at once meant that you'd miss out on
watching some games)
-They had good intentions with the streaming room and distractions for
spectator during down time, though the execution of the idea was poor.
-GB almost cried

Cons
-clueless commentators
-random games on stream; they should have gotten crowd input who to put on
stream in the later rounds
- too much downtime on the stream (wow, I get to watch the trailer AGAIN)
-Swiss format plzzzzzzz
-no chairs for competitors. made playing a pain, having to look down at the
screen. Made it hard for spectators to get a good view with crowding the
players
- 1 meter distance pls
-No noise, it was like , weird
-no speaker sounds, only headphones. I don't want big head phones on my
head, I want to hear the crowd and the game
-pls be quiet zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
-RIP hype
-no overlays or game sound on the stream, it's not rocket science
-RIP stream, dat MWEB data cap
-half the screens were laggy

I'd say it was a good first effort, but the TO was clearly unfamiliar with
the FGC, I mean he was like 'OMG fatal 8 guise." But he didn't know any of
the players and has probably not heard of Evo and other tourneys.

From my experience as the player. The tournament was pretty ok. It was
free lolz. But most of the negative issue is from specator's experience.

Good write up, but it does feel like there are too many negative issues

For the swearing and trash-talking thing, I'd just say that it was an
odd rule considering the game is 18+, and in general adults are
responsible. Mentioning the JHB makes it seems like a tit-for-tat issue.
I'd also just say that sometimes the officials killed the mood by asking
the spectators to be quiet rather than mentioning the "Shut the hell up"
aspect. It's weird because the players were given headphones, and if they
chose not to use them its on them. Although, I can't really remember if we
were asked to shut up. I know we were asked to move, but I can only recall
the issue with LB that killed the hype.

Will try to iron it out and make it more readable.

Feels a bit odd having to write up about my own matches...not sure how

that for me.

yep, Tournament Organiser

Swiss is also unhype.
It takes way too long. With all those setups, we couldv'e done 3-4
different games in the same time using double elim.
Plus, you could go the entire tourney without losing and then lose
once in the finals. Whereas someone else could lose once or twice and
still
win the whole thing.

For one, Swiss rules gives byes more significance than number of
games won.

Could someone explain why swiss rules isn't a good idea for

i'm not too familiar with the swiss rules in fighting games...since
it's my first time. the only issue i see is some one from the bubble may
end up in top 16 battling casual players who won against casual players.

It's already so vulnerable on recovery. Why do we have to spend 50%

if backdashing doesn't use stamina. It'll help against mix up
characters and strings. Since most safe + abusable strings have gaps.

Also plz fix mileena's backdash...it sucks. lolz

That kind of thing.

IMO
Backdashing shouldn't use stamina
Block counters shouldn't use stamina.
Running should use stamina.
Strings should use stamina.

How about characters with faster runs takes more stamina?

Cassie's b124 is a half screen advancement move...fuck. 10frames and
0 on block...you can technically backdash out of the last hit so it
wiff.
But nothing is guaranteed. You lose 50% of stamina for not giving her
0frames on block but she can simply do it again to advance.

However, you can use armor moves to fuck it up. But this would only
be useful for those who have armor moves that launches.

I would love this change.

backdashing shouldn't require stamina. Since it only dodges a few
frames on the move and you can't block for a while...so technically it's
very risky. Running requiring stamina is fine by me. Because they want
to
eliminate the whole MK9 dash block stuff. Also it will reduce some
character's offense...aka Cassie. Cassie without meter doesn't do much.
If
running doesn't cost meter...Cassie would be insane. Along with other
great
pressure characters.

Cassie's corner rocket set up is so messed up. Only way you can
dodge it is to backdash it at the right moment so you don't block or get
hit by the rocket...by backdashing...you're vulnerable and can't block
for
a while. Meaning, you dodge the rocket yes. But Cassie can just do
212~flip
and start a combo while you're still recovering from the backdash...

I'm playing this bitch lolz

I don't get why you lose all stamina after, and why breaking

If I had to change the game I would make it so that movement options
don't require stamina, but any combos that involve running depletes the
bar.
