Hi all

Some of you already know my feelings on this matter, so I'm just sharing
this with those who don't.

In light of recent 'developments' at the GamerNET house, I think it's time
for us to consider relocating.

We've had a good run there, but things are changing - and not necessarily
for the better, in my opinion.

I don't mind change. If it is good, or beneficial in some way, I'm all for
it. Right now, it seems like these changes are benefiting an individual and
not a collective.

So let me get right to the 'meat and potatoes' of what this is all about.
We get there on Saturday and start setting up. There's a car parked outside
at Jeeva's house that most of the regulars have already come to associate
with 'quiet time'. Now, this 'quiet time' I'm referring to is when IT
training has been scheduled at Jeeva's house. During the training period,
we are promptly told to shut the fuck up until such time as training has
been concluded.

I understand that Jeeva's house is a registered training institution. I
understand that he has to make ends meet and that this is just another
source of income. What I don't like is that other people who pay to be
there get the shaft because of how he feels he should conduct business.
This is gripe number one.

Gripe number two was when I wanted to set up the Challonge brackets for the
standard Sat tourney, only to realise that the internet connection wasn't
working (ethernet link to Jeeva's network). Not only that, but the wireless
details had also changed. Again, not typically something that one would
feel the need to complain about, provided that shit gets properly
communicated.

Which brings me to gripe number three; a distinct lack of communication
these days. Jeeva's just making changes without informing anyone. Maybe
we're just not 'important' enough to inform. Or perhaps, changes like these
don't warrant explanation, as far as he's concerned. It's fine for him to
send me an sms on any given Saturday to inform me that 'the guys are making
too much noise, can they please keep it down between 12pm and 1pm', but he
can't even communicate something as simple as 'hi guys, I had to change the
internet/network settings to accommodate the students/training personnel,
so if you want to use the internet, please use these new credentials'. Shit
like this pisses me off.

I'm starting to feel like we've overstayed our welcome and that Jeeva is
trying, in a very subtle, manner, to get us to leave. It's an assumption on
my part, I'll admit - but if someone isn't setting the record straight and
actually communicating this shit, then assumptions are all I have.

So here's what I'm looking to do. I'll be chatting to Zaid this week about
sessioning at Kamimodo and ask him if it would be possible for us to
perhaps get a discount on the monthly rate, seeing as how we'd be bringing
our own consoles and screens.

What I would like is to hear from everyone before we commit to anything.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter. How do you feel about the way
things are at the GamerNET house currently? Do you feel there's some merit
to what I'm saying? Would you prefer that we try to make the most of a
slightly unpleasant situation or consider alternatives? Please feel free to
voice your opinions.
