This is even better, but it has few ports, and probably doesn't perform as well:

It's not. It's the same, but some of the older GGs had a bug that allowed
negative edge. So you technically get an extra frame to perform a reversal
(push + release). In XRD they removed negative edge so now you don't get the
negative
 edge frame any more.

Apparently the reversal window is 2f for everything except gold burst, which is
1f.

In ST, if you piano correctly you get a 6f reversal window. In GG Xrd I
*think* you can plink some specials to give you a 3f reversal window.

One of the reasons they do this is because of how the hitboxes work. Some
attacks arc from the front of the screen to the back and vice versa, but
because its a 2D game the hitboxes don't take the Z-plane into account. So if
you have
an attack that is partially obscured by the character's body during its arc,
then often the hitboxes don't appear to line up with the move. To avoid this
they make all attacks look the same whether the character is facing left or
right.

The game is fun, but it also just chews through free time. I’ll log on to play
a game or two and before I know it, 4 hours has gone by.

Looks like my big (6 month) UK project is off. There is another (6-8 week) one
that looks to be raising its ugly head. Sigh. One day in the future I’d like to
live in Cape Town…
