question, to the point where it may not even make sense on the quantum scale.

Tricky question. May not even make sense at the quantum level. But
theoretically, in the layman's terms, yes it would. If the sound is a product
of the collapsed realisation of the tree, then the sound would be different.
But that's not the weirdest part. If you don't see how the tree falls but then
listen to the sound it makes afterwards, the tree would appear to retroactively
fall differently in order to accommodate the sound you hear. In other words,
suppose the tree could fall either left into the water, or right on to the
ground, the reality is that it falls in both directions till you hear the sound
it makes. And if you position yourself in a way that you can only hear the one
sound, then it will only fall on that side. So by changing the way you hear
how the tree falls, you change what happened in the past!
