I know shotokan is karate style.
But I very rarely take anything seriously when it applies to video games. Yuri
= Taekwondo? Yea right lol.

I consider terms like Shoto(SF) or Mishima(Tekken) to describe their ingame
playstyles imo.

"Although in sf terms i think of shoto as fireball-tatsu-DP characters"
Thats pretty close to what I said.
Could add tatsu to the "Shoto requirement" list.
Projectile + Shoryu + tatsu = shoto

That would be valid reason to exclude Sagat imo.
Not that fact the apparently he does Mui Thai... and most definitely not Makoto

Shoto is a fighting style, karate form. And i guess we can see who has that
style, ken ryu akuma dan etc. Maybe makoto too I guess. Although in sf terms i
think of shoto as fireball-tatsu-DP characters.

Ah k

So a character being referred to as a Shoto has nothing to do with how they
play but how they look?

Sagat mos a Mui Thai dude. Kick boxer. Shotokan is an actual discipline of
Karate.

So i guess you could say whoever wears a Karate outfit "gi" in the game are
shoto or shoto based. Dan akuma ken ryu. Sakura?

People, back me up here

Serious question then

What is a shoto?

Why would Sagat not be a shoto?

Just wondering
