John Riddell puts it very well. Your question is one which has bothered CP
modelers for decades.
The maroon weathered into many shades over the years.
Attached is a photo of my 2 Hudsons. The 2805 was painted by Bob Gordon from
BC and the 2839 is a Rapido model.
I'm pleased with the way they look together but I can't tell if Bob used a
decal for the maroon of if he painted it.
I sold the 2805 and bought it back later after the owner had started to
renumber it. I had to do the side skirt over and then used a spray can clear
coat (carefully and sparingly) It was a bit of luck that it came out okay.
If you use a clear coat or dull coat when you are finished, that will change
the look as well. The boiler grey is a bit light but it too will change a
bit if you clear coat.
It's best if you test the colours on some scrap piece and see what they look
like when dry. What you have done looks great. Sorry to be of little help.

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of decalling a Van Hobbies CP Hudson (2816) using black
cat decals. However, I noticed that, although they say they are Tuscan, they
look very dark maroon. When I look at pictures on line the side boards and
tender sides are definitely Tuscan red not deep maroon like the black cat
decals.
Can anyone shed some light on this as I have done half the engine and can't
help thinking it looks wrong.
