Julian,
CP maroon is very tricky to reproduce on a model. There are hundreds of
colour photos of CP locos in books and magazines.
I would go by colour photos. However there is a great variation in the
maroon/Tuscan color shown in photos. No two photos show the same colour. I
suspect Black Cat followed a colour photo so I would use Black Cat.
Same issue with CPR passenger car paint

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of decalling a Van Hobbies CP Hudson (2816) using black
cat decals. However, I noticed that, although they say they are Tuscan, they
look very dark maroon. When I look at pictures on line the side boards and
tender sides are definitely Tuscan red not deep maroon like the black cat
decals.
Can anyone shed some light on this as I have done half the engine and can’t
help thinking it looks wrong.
