Dave - I wonder if the reverse might be possible. Didn't the D-10s use the
same or very similar boiler, cab and tender arrangements as the M-4s?
Putting a Consolidation mechanism under a Rapido D-10 might even be within
the range of possibilities for a small domestic manufacturer if commercial
wheelsets of the appropriate size are available. Drivetrain parts could
probably be obtained from NWSL and rods, frame and valve gear etc. could
probably be etched in brass.

I think the better question, particularly if we want to see G Class
Pacifics, is how to convince the current transition era modelers that
they could use / need the D10s and Pacifics for their layouts - and
more generally how to try and get more Canadian steam modelers to make
more loco models viable.
Just a comment. The phrase "G Class Pacifics" is really very broad. In
the Icons of steam catalogue Rapido originally shared <

G5 and a G3. Alas, no G2 or G4. I happen to be one of those folks who
need the latter, not the former. It points to the need that the mass of
modellers needed to buy steam locos has to be modelling generically, or
modelling eras and locals that suit the locos Rapido is planning. I might
consider a G3 and see about converting it to a G4, but that is kind of a
crazy idea given my limited level of competence. I have no way to make use
of a G5. So I think I will sit on the sidelines for those offerings and
wish the rest of you keep on buying so the program continues.
I have my order for D10s in. Wishing Rapido well on this project.
Would love to see them add a V4 0-8-0 switcher, and the later (higher
numbered) group of decapods, both of which would be good switching and
terminal locos.
