There have been a number of house concerts over the summer (I even had one)
and I think it's a positive thing for our neighborhood. Just about all of
them ask for money upfront or donations at the door, so the fact that you
can RSVP and save your seat ahead of time doesn't really bother me. I think
they just have a more sophisticated way of collecting the money and
assuring that the band is at least going to make a certain amount that
night.

If they were selling beer/wine or profiting in some other fashion, I would
be more alarmed. Right now, I'm just thankful that we have some
entertainment options that are within walking distance.

I went to the last one.  It was acoustic, ended by 8:30, and limited in
size to how many people can fit in their living room.  They’re a lot tamer
than almost all of the house parties I’ve been too.
