We had a planning application notification today, reference
20/02979/REM, covering the detailed plans for the Community Centre
landscaping and layout to satisfy reserved matters from the previous
approval. There's nothing too drastic as far as I can see although the
complete focus appears to be on Soccer and the main Seniors pitch is
pretty close to us and the back of the gardens at St Mary's Close - I
had thought there was meant to be a green barrier to protect the village
although playing fields may count towards that. Better than housing for
sure.
However, what did strike me was the total absence in the layout (which
I've attached for interest to save you all looking yourselves) for the
tennis courts which were originally proposed for the existing Community
Centre in the middle of the village. Were these meant to be in this area
or associated with the new school in the centre of the primary
development site? I'm actually quite pleased if it's the latter as the
new centre is not that far away and if they had been proposed it with
the same lighting as in the proposals a few months ago that would have
been much closer and more visible/intrusive to those of us living on the
North side of Walton Road. If they're over in the main Glebe Farm
development then so much the better. But interesting nonetheless.
