Most likely your sister needs to recheck her passwords.
Making sure they are correct.
Other than that, I don't know.

  My sister is currently running 5.1 version of Instant Messenger. This version 
does not allow the two of us to have a video conversation. It  says her version 
is too old. BUT, when she tries to install the newer version, It won't accept 
her passwords etc.

  to get the updated version working should she completely delete the old one 
first then install the latest?
  She is using window xp.
