any online info, steps to doing what i will need to do?

any instructions on avoiding reformating and installing?
if not, instructions on reinstalling windows.
either with reformat, on top, or total overhaul, again?

this looks familiar....?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=3Dkb;en-us;207600=20

was my system an upgrade from windows 95?

how do you reinstall from dos?
and does this clean all the installed programs, drivers, etc that my =
specific computer came with. (as i had it built leaning towards music =
making applications.)

i tried to reinstall windows last night over top and i got back in but it =
was a mess in there.
it even looked like windows 95...

but it seems to installed a new system with a new c:/windows directory
like c:/windows000 instead.

i could access the drives and move what i wanted and needed out of the c: =
drive to d: drive, but everything else (display, , graphic card, all my =
previous programs and installs, drivers for all connected equipment, =
everything, really) was pretty much gone or missing and not installed.
i couldnt even open up the internet connection wizard to get back online =
thru my cable modem.

can you help me getting the computer back to the way it was?
with the drivers and everything...
especially for the display, graphics card, sound card, etc....
sorry, but i am not experienced at this....

my computer was built to specifications from=20
www.miacom.com=20
with a upgraded and modified version of the first comp you see...

i tried forever trying ext.exe to extract the earlier mentioned files from =
the cd-rom to the windows directory and to a floppy for the files missing =
or corrupted but it would say "cant open file e: win98/(null)"

is there any online RECENT online documentation on reinstalling windows, =
format and reinstall, and the like? for 98se that is....

obviously something is wrong!
i would REALLY prefer not to somehow lose the d partition, so if i do what =
i need to do in installing/formatting windows again will anything in the d =
drive be erased or changed?

if i HAVE TO format, will it only do the c: drive partition and not the d =
drive where all my music is stored?

please write me with a step by step process to get back to original form.
i am fine with reinstalling all the programs i use, and the stuff on the =
c: drive.

but i DO NOT WANT TO LOSE the d partition or the files in there.
and i will need direction on getting all the drivers and updates and 98se =
fixes that you all had on the computer when i bought it....

i am really confused about this bc, i know i didnt get a virus, bc the =
computer was perfectly fine on Tuesday...???

in the future (as i was wanting and planning on learning the formatting, =
reinstalling, driver finding, etc etcetc soon anyways) i will be able to =
do this on my own in the future...
i have wanted to do this for a while to clean out the registry and all the =
programs i installed and uninstalled and such and such...

You have somehow wiped out Windows.

Try running Windows setup over the one you have now. You may have to do a
clean install. This is another situation where you could spend a long =
time
trying to get it repaired, and in the end wind up reinstalling anyway.
