It's an old one. :)

I can't even remember what's in there other than a ton of ram and no disk. I think it takes a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, it uses a 13w3 monitor which I have a cable for (though I may need a gender bender to get it to work on mine; it looks like the cable is intended to be plugged in to both the monitor and the system).

I've never played with HP-UX; I'd like to eventually get some hardware and play with it, but with AIX, I already have hardware designed to run it.

If you have the drive tray the SCA drives are cheap. Ignore the IBM maximum

Give me the model from the front sticker (XXXX-XXX alphanumeric possibly)
and I probably have the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for it in PDF.
Somewhere around here I have an old copy of AIX which is also a Unix based
OS. I don't moneky with AIX much, gives me a large longlasting migrane same
as HPUX.

Yeah, but a 400mhz IBM PPC is what, the IBM equivalent of a G3? I've got an old RS/6000 with 128mb RAM that I need to get a drive for one of these days so I can play with AIX. You can't beat a system that has 128mb RAM through 1mb and 8mb sticks. :)

My RS/6000 ran fine with MacOSX but it has a PPC at 400 I think and
tons of
RAM. You could always toss a spare drive into the machine and try
it. If it
doesn't work toss the old drive in and go back to where you where.
Your
machine probably runs SCSI anyway, easy enough to find cheaply. My
server
runs almost 2 terrbaytes of SCSI drives in RAID, got them all surplus.

I assume you mean "G3 or better"? I have an older system that's a
PowerPC -- 75mhz. Something tells me, other than the fact that I
know the minimum requirement is a G3, that it's not going to boot up
in there if I grab the CDs from work and try to install. ;)

As long as it runs a G3 or PowerPc processor it should run MacOS X
