Hello Gardeners,
A big shout out to gardener Mike Alexander who spent several hours using
his home rototiller on Monday to till the middle plots that were being
overtaken by weeds! Thank you, Mike!
Dan and I spoke this morning and there are a few things we want you to know:
- *Extra plots available:* if you would like additional growing space,
please let Dan know and pay at the Town Office. There are 8-9 vacant 15x15
plots at this time. Perhaps you'd like to grow some potatoes or sprawling
winter squash?
- *Grow A Row: *the Lamoille Community Food Share is encouraging home
gardeners to consider "growing a row" of vegetables and donating some to
the pantry. Produce donations can be dropped off any time the pantry is
open: Mon-Fri 9-11:30 and Sat 9:30-11.
- *Pro-Grow: *Dan purchased a bag of Pro Grow fertilizer which is
available for all Community Gardeners to use. Use a handful when planting
or side dress if your plants are already in. You can find it in its blue
bag or possibly a white bucket- it's brown powdery stuff with some pellets
and a distinctive odor.
- *Hand sprayers:* he also bought a couple of hand sprayers that attach
to the end of hoses. When finished using these, please hang them up on the
spigot post.
- *Stakes for tomatoes:* Dan plans to purchase a bundle this week.
