Hello Gardeners,
*Water lines:* the hot weather has made it difficult to proceed with
getting the water lines set up. Dan is aiming to continue this project
after work on Monday and/or Tuesday. Please let him know if you can help!
He will reach out to some of you to assemble a team.
*Plot assignments:* if you haven't been assigned a plot yet, please contact
Dan.
*Weeds:* It is amazing how fast the freshly tilled soil becomes covered
with weeds. On Friday I saw fellow gardener Brian Norder using the scuffle
hoe on his plot to keep his plot free of weeds. It is a great tool to use
all season. Do a search online for videos on how to use this super useful
tool!
While I'm on the subject of weeds, please keep all pulled weeds within your
plot or take them home. Some ideas for managing them include designating a
small area in the center of your plot for them, putting them in a black
plastic bag, or creating an enclosure out of fence wire. Please don't put
them in the aisle or throw them anywhere outside the garden.
*Darrel:* Some of you may have noticed that a man named Darrel has taken up
residence in and around the garden shed. While we are concerned and
compassionate about his situation, we do not feel the garden shed is an
appropriate place for someone to be living. Please know that we are working
on addressing this difficult issue.
