Hello Gardeners!
What a beautiful collection of wonderfully diverse gardens we have all
worked together to create! Wow!
Here are some things we'd like everyone to know about:
*1. Community Garden Open House! *On August 4, 5-7:30, we will open our
garden to the public. Our garden is the first of 8 garden open houses in
the Vermont Community Garden Network's 2021 Garden Tour
<https://vcgn.org/vermont-garden-tour-2021/>. From 6-6:45 Brian Norder,
fellow gardener and semi-retired food processing consultant, will give tips
on easy and non-intimidating ways to preserve your crop, including water
bath and pressure canning, freezing, drying, quick pickling, fermentation
and a few other tricks. We hope you'll come down, enjoy the Wednesday night
music of Soulstice, and share your enthusiasm and love of gardening!
*2. Cover Crops: * We received another generous donation from High Mowing
Seeds! There are several bags of various cover crop seeds in the shed.
Cover crops provide numerous benefits to the garden. Learn more from Charlie

*3. Weeds, weeds...what to do with pulled weeds?* We're noticing all sorts
of strategies for dealing with pulled weeds. Some of you lay them down in
your paths to suppress future weeds, others have a spot designated for
weeds in your plot. And some of you even carry them away by the bushel to
compost at home. These are all great and highly recommended ways to
dispose of your weeds. Please do not pile them up in shared walkways or
toss them out of the garden boundaries.
