[comixed] Main startup page - add release notes, contact info and bugs / plans?

Something I thought about this morning.

ComicRack had a splash screen with news – CX has a lot of white space on the 
initial start page (before a user has logged in).

Could it be used to display pertinent information?  Similar to the very rough 
mock-up below.  Obviously CX would need to be able to talk to GitHub, or some 
other server to pull the latest information.
