I would be willing to test this client on the Mac. I am a blind user, so
accessible MUD clients for the Mac. Currently, the only client even in
developement for the Mac which is accessible costs $10. This wouldn't usually
be too bad; I bought MUDRammer for iOS at $5, but the project doesn't seem to
be steadily developed, so I'd love to help cocoa MUD work well on the Mac. A
few things for screen readers:
Mac has two options: Voiceover, and NS-speech. Voiceover offers the ability for
users to use the same voice, speed, and other settings that is used in everyday
screen reading. The system speech probably provides more control over the
speech engine. For now, Voiceover does not queue text to be spoken. It speaks
incoming text line by line, and if a new line comes in while Voiceover speaks
the old line, speech will stop, and begin speaking the new line. Therefore, it
may be better to simply use the system TTS, and have hotkeys/settings to
control speaking rate.

Hi to all,
And welcome to our new member! No, there is no CocoMUD on Mac yet. Windows
is the only official version, although we're slowly moving toward
full-accessibility in Linux. Mac is definitely a strong need, since there's
not a lot of accessible clients and most are really limited. I have been
asked to offer CocoMUD on Mac, but lacking a Mac myself, it's pretty hard to
come up with something simple.
The current solution is indeed to compile from source. The page doesn't
exist yet, partly because it's a bother to write with many instructions,
partly because of time constraints and project fluidity. Some users have
attempted with my help to compile CocoMUD on Mac, but the first step already
blocks. I have tried once to get OSX working in virtual mode, but I never
got very far there. We're definitely looking for users who both have access
to Mac, and the skills to run these tests.
On the bright side, CocoMUD is going to move to Python 3 in a few weeks. We
(that is I) hope that the installation process will be easier on some
platforms, like OSX. For the time being, I'm afraid this is wishful
thinking, and there's no deadline. I am more than interested in users who
can run CocoMUD on Mac, though, and will gladly help whoever wants to try go
get it running, through installing Python and some packages. Well, quite a
lot, to be fair.

Hello, I did ask about a Mac version, as there is not any accessible MUD
clients out there for Mac that are simple to use. I know people have gotten
Tintin to work, but that's only for the terminal, and trigger creation with
Tintin is scarry. I tried to download the source to compile it, but the
resulting page was a "not found."

Hi Vincent!
Someone asked if there is a version of cocomud for mac-systems.
If not, would it be tricky to create one?
Best wishes!
