The 'textbook' Jeff used in the old Linux course was "Running Linux"
which is arguably still the best general 'non-distro-centric' Linux
book around. O'Reilly just came out with a new fifth edition.

So if you're going to do some training that would be a good
text to use. There are other texts that could be used for
a specific distro.
