dd Command. [40m youtube video]
I looked into it and only successful person I seen do it the way you want was
on a jailbroken iPhone with openssh otherwise just not something they want you
to do because it'd open other security issue I'm sure

I'm asking for a sanity check here. This is not a high priority item for me,
but I would welcome your opinions/thoughts.
I have an Iphone that I would like to make a truly complete backup (to include
firmware) Think forensic copy. The phone is NOT rooted or jailbreaked.
My plan is to use lubuntu to mount the Iphone (connected via a usb cable) and
then use the dd command to copy the entire device to a file on the lubuntu box.
So, my question is "Do you think this is possible?". Is there something
fundamentally wrong with this approach. I am asking before I spend a whole
bunch of time trying to make this work, and then find out I went down a blind
alley. Maybe the Iphone has to have root privileges? Maybe it has to be set in
recovery mode? Is there an easy way to tell if I mount the device, do I have
access to everything on the device? I think if I can see the partitions, I
should be able to copy them.
Your thoughts/comments are welcome. Once again, this is not a high priority
item, so if you care to share, don't put a ton of effort behind it. Quick
reaction is fine, just looking for a sanity check.
Thanks in advance.
