|There has been talk in the past of what distro will replace red hat at |the school. Any thoughts on that yet? Just going to keep using RH9 for this semester. Jeff has talked about using Slackware for the security course. We'll probably install SUSE, Debian, and Slackware on some machines and test all the math and science software we want to use for our Scientific Computing program before we switch to something else. |Anyone ever thought about creating a custom distro? I bet it would take |a lot of work, so its probably not feasible. How hard would it be to do |such a thing? Harry McGregor and some others in Tucson started a non-profit = organization called the Open Source Education Foundation (OSEF) http://www.osef.org and they put together a distro for K-12 education. If the group gets a = file server I'd like that to be one of the things we put on it. I may try to contact him sometime this semester and see if he can come = down to talk about OSEF and what they did to put that distro together. lp -------------------------------------------------------------------- Cochise Linux Users Group Mailing List - cochiselinux@xxxxxxxxxxxxx For more information: http://www.cochiselinux.org To unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/cochiselinux
