in the poorest countries and narrowing the gaps between countries with the
best and worst health status in the past two decades, according to the *World
Health Statistics 2013*. “*Intensive efforts to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals have clearly improved health for people all over the
world,*” says Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO.****


World Health Statistics 2013 contains WHO’s annual compilation of
health-related data for its 194 Member States, and includes a summary of
the progress made towards achieving the health-related Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs) and associated targets.

This year, it also includes highlight summaries on current trends in
official development assistance (ODA) for health.
