Dear colleagues,

It is now common that subscription-based journals provide an "author pays" option for authors to publish their research as open access articles. The ALCTS Scholarly Communications Interest Group invited four speakers (Philip Bourne, Charles Eckman, Patricia Hudson, and Dan Morgan) to discuss this topic and the future of scholarly publishing at the 2011 American Library Association Midwinter Meeting in San Diego.
