That’s what I had in my notes, too, Laurie. We can, however, certainly reach
out to Colby to encourage attendance.

Congrats on a great line-up, folks. Stay tuned for draft promotional materials.

Terrific! Great line-up. I thought Abbott was going to lead the discussion
after Apu.

I hope all of you are just as excited as I am to see our confirmed CINEMA
EXPLORATION schedule. You will, of course, note that “MON ONCLE ANTOINE” has
been replaced by “THE WORLD OF APU” as our classic film. It will be exciting to
see that film on the big screen. I don’t know if anyone is planning to purchase
the Critierion “APU TRILOGY” DVD or Blu-Ray disc set, but if anyone did that
could be a helpful resource in being able to add some context and helpful
information to our discussion of “THE WORLD OF APU.” Here is the schedule and
below that are my notes (and memories and sometimes what I wish I had said)
from the meeting. Let me know if something significant was left out.

CINEMA EXPLORATION 2016 Winter Film Series Schedule

January 9-10: BOUNCE: HOW THE BALL TAUGHT THE WORLD TO PLAY
(Cinematographer and Producer David McLain-Jan 10)

January 23-24: PEACE OFFICER (Bill, Julie, and law
enforcement professional(s) to be named later on both Jan 23 and Jan 24)

February 6-7: THE WORLD OF APU (Colby outreach: Film
studies, Indian society, etc.)

February 20-21: TAXI (Colby outreach: Film studies, Middle
East/Iranian studies)

March 5-6: HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT (Colby outreach: Film
studies)

March 19-20: DUKHTAR (DAUGHTER) (Colby outreach: Pakistani
society, Women’s issues, etc.)

Promotional activities

Brochure-We send out the brochure to the RRSQ mailing list and have them
available for pick-up at a variety of locations. We decided to not do the
brochure in color, but in B&W. We also agreed to change its shape to make it a
trifold. It was felt that these changes would save significant money and make
the brochure more easy to post.

Poster-We are, however, planning to have a color poster.

Press Release-We have had a press release for the series as a whole in the
past. We will probably try to do that, but may have a better response from news
outlets to press releases about specific films and guests.

Slides-Our films will be promoted using the series of slides that show prior to
each screening at RRSQ.

Trailers-Our films have only sporadically appeared in the regular pre-film
series of trailers and to do so more consistently would be helpful. Regardless,
we will have trailers for our upcoming film appearing with each of the CINEMA
EXPLORATION films.

Facebook Page(s): Targeted boosting of Facebook posts could help us reach more
potential film-goers. Coordination and sharing of posts could help maximize our
reach.

Post-Film Discussion-Initial suggestions for finding discussion leaders or
discussion participants are in parentheses above. Additional suggestions could
well be needed. If anyone thinks of someone or a potential source for someone
to help in the post-film discussion, please share that. We will continue to
provide a meal with our guest discussion leaders via arrangements with local
restaurants.

Targeted Marketing-Below are some of the areas of interest for which we may
find individuals receptive to our films. Are there any others? Any suggestions
for entre into these groups?

“BOUNCE!” Links to involvement in sports, human development, psychology,
teaching, parenting, etc. could be helpful

“PEACE OFFICER” Concern about police confrontations with citizens

“THE WORLD OF APU” Film history, Indian society

“TAXI” Film studies; Middle East, Iran; Freedom of expression

“HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT” Film studies, Film history, Classic films,
Turner Classic Movies

“DUKHTAR (DAUGHTER)” Women’s rights, Human rights, Pakistan

Fundraising and Advertising-Shannon’s team will take the lead on these
activities. We did discuss including the new breakfast and lunch restaurant
Toast Express as a potential advertiser. In that we have changed our classic
film to “THE WORLD OF APU,” the Indian restaurant in downtown Waterville is
another obvious choice.

Tickets

Single admission price stays at $8.00.

Film series pass price stays at $36.00.

Other RRSQ punch passes will be accepted, but the per film price is lower using
the film series pass.
