This is a reminder of our meeting tomorrow morning at 9:30 at Railroad
Square. In accordance with Alan's request, we will begin with the screening
of "THE OTHER SIDE OF HOPE."
More lists and links for you to look over. I have created a list of 56 films
on IMDb entitled "CINEMA EXPLORATIONS 2018." Most of the films come from the
NY Times release schedule that was published about a month ago. There are
many documentaries-including two titled "INDIVISIBLE." One is about families
that could be broken apart by the deportation of illegal immigrants and the
other is an Italian film about Siamese twins who could be surgically
separated. I have also included a list-films #5 to #10-that are films that
are from Quebec. There are three older films and three from the last couple
of years-including this year's Canadian submission to the Best
Foreign-language Oscar competition "HOCHELAGA LAND OF SOULS" which is about
the history of Montreal going back to before the French showed up and then
coming forward. The problem for each of these films is that they either have
no US distribution or the distribution arrangement was so many years ago
that it may be difficult to find who owns the US rights as well as whether
there is a usable print in any format. Any input on the Quebec films would
be appreciated. As you may know this list is not exhaustive on what might be
available either from Quebec or other types of films which is why there are
some additional links from distributors. I have a link for my list, but it
seemed as though that only worked for me last year. If that link doesn't
work for you, I would recommend that you go to "THE OTHER SIDE OF HOPE" and
research the user lists it is on which should lead you to my list.
