Hi all,
Nancy and I were agreeing afterwards that the Bonobo sex scenes were not in
this cut of the film The "Bonobo handshake" and so on. And I am convinced that
there were new materials added, I'd not seen, as well as there being a lesser
presence of NFL football - a segment that both N and I felt sort of floundered
in the preview we saw. This time I felt the NFL was there for only the time
necessary to be held up as a non-"playing" example - and I also thought a lot
of new material came thereafter as an extended "coda" and recapitulation. Some
new talking heads bits as well?
Are we right about this? Hey, we're OLD. (Memories, in the blah blah blah
blah blaaah). Streisand. Whatever.
So, Joel, maybe tomorrow you could ask the film maker, off to the side,
about that? It would be interesting for us on the committee, but of course
would make no sense to tomorrow's audience.
N and I were indeed concerned about kids and the ape-sex, but N remarked
that booting the king's bloody head around would probably be more detrimental
to any kids' subsequent development than a bit of primate hanky-panky, and I
agree.
Overall, we both liked the film even better than the first time. And I
would attribute that to a second editing of the piece. VV Abbott
