Well, Mr. Simmons, I am truly sorry to hear that Sesame Street & The Cookie Monster being mentioned in the same sentence as the President of the United States is, in your opinion, overly political. You are indeed, like everyone else, entitled to your opinion. I have always found that listenening - and digesting - both sides of any argument, along with a healthy dose of good humor, is the best way not only to get along with each other, but to grow our own horizons, insights and knowledge. I am sorry that my attempt at humor has upset you, and that as a result you feel you can no longer participate in our friendly repartee. Good-bye and good luck. This is where I end my relationship with this group. I tried to tame things down and make light of the situation. A lot of us have opinions and everyone is entitled to an intelligent opinion, no matter what side you're on. I honestly hoped this would just die, but I guess not. I really enjoyed that no one got overly political in Cincinnati Dads, up till now. I really don't care what people think about these topics, but this is where I draw the line. However, I think we all need to realize that moveon.org has a definite agenda and is not to be taken completely seriously. Has anyone seen this on any of the more mainstream news sources? This is merely a scare tactic by a group that wants to stir the pot. Think about this seriously guys, Sesame Street is not going off the air. If it were, there would be people from all walks of the political spectrum making a big deal out of it. Now, let's move on and figure out when the next DNO is! It needs to involve beer. I can't imagine life without PBS. How else would I have any time for myself during the day without that hour of Sesame Street?!?!?! Speaking of NPR, Tim gave a good interview on Monday! For those who missed it, look for the June 13, 2005 (4 archived segments) show on http://www.wmub.org/interconnect/. (Really. Check the footnotes if you don't believe me.) Sign the petition telling Congress to save NPR and PBS: http://www.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/ A House panel has voted to eliminate all funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch. The cuts would slash 25% of the federal funding this year-$100 million-and end funding altogether within two years. The loss could kill beloved children's shows like "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Arthur," and "Postcards from Buster." Rural stations and those serving low-income communities might not survive. Other stations would have to increase corporate sponsorships. If we can reach 250,000 signatures by the end of the week, we'll put Congress on notice. http://www.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/ Thanks! P.S.
