Whale Watch Report: Ranger 85, Tuesday, February 19, 2019
Two gray whales spotted.
* First off Mandalay Beach heading south. Appeared to be a juvenile.
* Second spotted on backside of Anacapa near Inspiration Point. Breached
once just in front of the boat. Appeared to be just loitering in the area and
playing hide and seek with us.
Various sea lions on the rocks on the back side of Anacapa.
A large number of Surf Scoters in waters off of Anacapa on the return.
Visitors were from Michigan, Colorado, Ohio, Wisconsin, Denmark, and Ireland
along with several locals accompanying their out of town friends.
Visibility was excellent and seas were flat; a grand day on the water.
